Sorry for being MIA lately on our blog. I hope you all are enjoying the change in weather with your teas and dry fruits on your side (tissues too :p ).

So dolls it's officially the holidays now everywhere in the world and many Brands are showcasing their Holidays collection with different new products and repackaged stuff. Due to this new holiday spirited air in the makeup world, I bundled my passion and came forward with an overview of some of our picks. We are super excited to present you our Holiday Gift Guide, 2015.

Shopping online or going out to the mall, its always about your own choices and decisions, as everyone has different style and fashion sense. When there are so many new tempting products infront of you to pick, it is always a battle deciding what you should buy.We hope that this overview acts as a guide for you guys if you are flustered by holidays products and want something for yourself. Without further ado lets get started with our picks and guide for you guys:

BH Cosmetics 6 Color Palette Contour & Blush

Contouring which was once makeup artist’s secret, is the most famous makeup vogue in the recent years. Almost every brand on spectrum is launching their Contour palette, to help carve the face through makeup, including the brand which is known for its wide range of eye shadows, brushes and economical products. BH Cosmetics is an online brand which ships worldwide and in recent years they’ve broadened their selection and are keeping themselves up to date with every new world’s makeup trend. BH cosmetics have two 6 pans Contour & Blush palettes that works for many skin tones. All of the colors are matte with no metallic shine, or shimmer. The palette I will be reviewing today is number 1 of their collection which has some great highlighting shades, a dark contour color and two dark pink-toned blushes with a highlighter also. Palette 2 has darker shades with salmon blushes and is not suitable for Asian skin tones.

Product Description

Product has been described on BH Cosmetics site as:

Get the must-have palette in every makeup artist’s kit. This easy to use face palette works for every skin tone. Six universally versatile matte shades in both warm and cool tones that can be used to contour, highlight, set and blush with a pop of colour.

Features & Benefits

  • ·         Easy to use.
  • ·         Clinically Tested.
  • ·         Non-irritating.
  • ·         Allergy Tested.
The product comes in a black matte card cover and the palette is also made of black matte plastic, which isn’t flimsy or gives cheap feeling. The size of palette is nice to keep inside a drawer but definitely something which you can carry in bag. On the back you’ll find all of the information that is normally on the box or website including the description of the product, ingredients and directions for use which can be handy if you are using palette for the first time. The amount of product you get in these pans in tremendous, each pan is about two inches across.

My Thoughts

For starters, in this value, the palette is quite decent. The pigmentation is intense, especially when it comes to the blush and contour colours. The powders are a bit powdery, I dab my brush lightly on the pan to pick up the colour, because the colours are really pigmented and you may want to tap off the excess from the brush before applying to the face. The blush shade on the bottom right is my choice most of the time when I use this palette. I use the white highlighter powder under my eyes, it really gives the awakening effect to the eyes. The skin powder on the top row can be used as compact powder and I use the one on the bottom left to dab on my face when I feel a little pale after applying foundation. And it stays for 7-8 hours on my skin in summers and doesn’t rub off if I accidently touch my face. I often get asked by friends and colleagues that what blush you are using, why it hasn’t disappeared yet after so many hours.

However, I will recommend these palettes to the people with medium to dark skin tones because of the depth of the colours and the pigmentation. For someone like me who has a light to medium tone, this works as long as I keep light hand. This is an ideal starter for the new comers in the contouring and highlighting world of makeup.

Pros:

  • ·         Not so pricey
  • ·         Can be obtained online, as BH cosmetic ships worldwide.
  • ·         Matte shades with no fall out on the pan.
  • ·         Stays for 7-8 hours.

Cons:
  • ·         A little intense, you need to be cautious about the amount on the brush before applying
  • ·         Contour and Blush colours could be a little lighter.
  • ·         The palette is thin but large so doesn’t make it travel friendly.

Availability and Price:

BH cosmetics ships worldwide and this can also be purchased through different face book pages.
It cost $19
P.S: Keep a check on BH’s sale deals, as they come often ;)

Maria

The Body Shop Tea Tree "Flawless" BB Cream

When you go out daily and you want to look effortlessly beautiful and presentable, you search for things that don't take much of your time but also gives you atleast 6-7 hours wear off. I like to use BB creams for daily use and they appear more onto natural side and doesn't give you greasy or cakey look.

I have been using Garnier's BB cream from sometime and casually Pond's too, they were working fine for me till I bought the The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream. And YES here I have my new Holy Grail face product.

Front Side of tube

Back of tube

What is Tea Tree?

The Body Shop has a separate line of "Tea Tree" products which includes concealers, body wash, cleaning wipes, pore minimizer and face mask etc (to see their whole tea tree range click here). The first question that came in mind however was when I saw about range was "What is Tea Tree? Can I drink this Tea also? "(Tea addict spotted) , but on further search I got the answer and that was NO.
Tea tree oil is derived from the leaves of the tea tree. The tea tree was named by eighteenth century sailors, who made tea that smelled like nutmeg from the leaves of the tree growing on the swampy southeast Australian coast. Do not confuse the tea tree with the unrelated common tea plant that is used to make black and green teas.Click here

About the Product

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB cream has been described by TBS as:

Perfect your complexion and fight the look of blemishes with our Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream. This dual action cream gives you flawless coverage whilst tackling the appearance of blemishes. Formulated with purifying Community Fair Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya.
  • Blemishes and imperfections are instantly covered
  • Lightweight formula gives shine-free complexion
  • 3 shades blend seamlessly into all skin tones for natural-looking coverage

It comes a squeezable small 40 ml green tube with a range of 3 shades i.e 01, 02 and 03. On the front after the name of BB cream "Suitable for Blemished Skin"is written in small font. It has targeted the people with acne prone skin and sensitive skin as it has Tea Tree Oil, a natural acne fighter. The smell is like the strong tea tree and the texture is thicker than usual BB creams but creamy and easily blend-able.

Left: Before /Right: After (natural light)

My thoughts:

I am using it shade 1 with pale/yellow undertone as 2 was too orangish and dark for me. 3 however is not for Asian skin tones as its darker. I was mainly attracted to this after reading the "Suitable for Blemished Skin"on it as I have really sensitive skin. It has a sheer light to medium buildable coverage, it evens out my skin and gives a matte finish though it won't cover highly pigmented spots. TBS BB cream is my first choice on those mornings when I have only 7-10 minutes to get ready for work. It set so easily with fingers and also minimize the need of deep moisturizing below. I have mix skin so I apply moisturizer on only the dry spots on my cheeks and above lips, on other parts TBS BB cream do the work.I squeeze a little portion on my finger and put spots of it on my face and blend it all together with tip of my fingers. It feels so light on skin and doesnot oxidize at all as it stays on skin for 7-8 hours. The oil-control and staying power of this BB cream is dramatic, it stays on my face for 7-8 hours without any shine and creasing, if there is a some shine a little retouching by setting powder doesn't actually hurt or bother me.

I will highly recommend it as The Body Shop Flawless BB cream definitely keeps your skin healthy and reduce blemishes and redness. I will purchase it again and it will always be part of my makeup bag.

Pros:

1. Creamy blend-able texture, which isn't runny.
2. Comes in squeezable tube.
3. Easily available on The Body Shop outlets and large stores.
4. Main ingredient is natural product which reduces the acne.
5.Stays for 7-8 hours easily.
6. Travel friendly.

Cons:

1. Strong odor
2. Little pricey than other BB creams available.
3. Ingredients are not written on the tube, except for Tea Tree Oil.
4. Very Limited basic shades.

Availability and Price:

I got my BB cream from THE BODY SHOP outlet in Xinhua Mall, Lahore for Rs 1650/- (40 ml.)

"GOOD BYE SUMMER" Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Creme Colors

We always tend to fall for things who are vibrant and easy to apply. Also the charm increases more when these products are of creamy texture, which means no fall out while applying and no mess.
As summer is leaving now and I thought how about a GOODBYE SUMMER POST featuring the product that was talked about the "most"this year? So here it is

Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Creme Colors

Anastasia Beverly Hills is known as the brow queen but has launched an array of eye-shadows and liquid lipsticks. In her summer 2015 collection she launched these new colorful water proof creme colors which look perfect under the bright in day light and tempted me to buy them ASAP.

Continue reading to know my thoughts on it.

Product description:

This ultra-pigment gel cream instantly transforms lid with intense colors. The long wearing water proof formula resists fading, creasing or sliding- Even in humid temperature.
Remove with waterproof eye makeup remover.
Anastasia Water-proof creme colors.

Back Side with color names

Colors description:

There are six limited edition shades in the range:

Barbie Pink: A fun, bright, hot pink color with blue under tones.
Sunset        : A pleasant, dusty rose with plum and purple warm undertones.
Coral Reef : A hot, matte neon orange.
Yellow       : A pure, innocent, bright sunflower.
Ocean         : A tropical blue paradise in a pot.
Ice Blue     : A fresh aqua.

Packaging

These creme colors come in a matte black card packaging, with a color name on the top. Inside it the creme colors are in small jar, with a lid with Anastasia logo. The jar has lid on it which makes it travel friendly.

Arm Swatches:

My thoughts:

This product is multi-functional because it can be used not only as an eye-liner but also as an eye-shadow base, blush and even as a lip stain (with lip-balm underneath). Also the creme colors are completely odorless, in case you are conscious about the smell of products you are putting on your face. These amazing little gems have crazy intense pigmentation. It appears on skin as vibrant and beautiful as it appears in the jar or pictures you see around on Internet. The texture falls more on the drier side but still it glides effortlessly on the eyes. The color doesn't transfer onto my crease (I have dry lids) as once applied these dry down immediately and don't move until you want them too. The product duration is creditable, maximum stay is 16-hours. Although unlike other cream shadows these colors can't be used as the shadow base as they dry relatively fast so wouldn't give a sticky base to powder colors to cling on. Maria though wants to apply them as eyeliner only (being the eyeliner freak she is *wink wink* ). My personal favorite is Ice blue because I somehow find it more creamy.

P.S :I couldn't remove the swatches on my arm with soap and water even though I scrubbed real hard. To remove the color Norvina suggests an oil based remover, to which I agree.

Coral Reef applied on Lid.

Pros:

Long lasting.
Bright fun colors.
Works perfectly on oily lids.
Does not crease or smudge.
Amazing pigmentation.

Cons:

Hard to blend as dries up quickly.
Limited shades.
A little costly.
Not available locally in Pakistan.

Price, Availability, and Quantity:

Each Pot retails for $18, I bought mine through my most trustworthy face book store.
Each contains 4 grams/ 0.14oz of product.
You can buy it Here.

With Love,
Sana.

MOTIVES LITTLE BLACK DRESS GEL LINER Review and Swatches

Eyeliner has been in my "makeup essentials"list from more than 8 to 9 years. I feel like a sad baby panda who has lost his beautiful round marks around eyes, without an eyeliner.  I started with drugstore liquid liners first and then I came across Maybelline Gel liner. After it there was no turning back from my love for gel liners. Although  I am pretty satisfied with Maybelline Gel Liner but you do need to try different things from time to time. After reading good reviews and seeing many makeup artists using it, I also decided to get Motives renowned Little Black Dress Gel liner.

Soap and Glory Flake away body scrub AND Righteous body butter lotion.

Your over all body needs as much attention as your face. Having the satisfaction that you are perfectly aesthetic from head to toe, gives you self-reliance and fortitude. You know a bold red lipstick is not going to help you in a party if the dry patch on your back is itching ;). In this post I will be reviewing few products which I have purchased recently, and trust me they are heavenly.

Our Introduction :)

Hello dolls :)
We wanted to introduce ourselves a little to our beasties out there first, before starting a formal blog. Because we believe that a little knowledge about the person who is behind a piece of a written paper or a well structured article is really important, to build the connection between the reader and writer.

Firstly the name of the blog, Makeup Beasties. Trust me, we aren't real beast or big creatures behind this, beasties here according to Urban Dictionary means the person who are good enough for a certain thing, and we believe so we are certainly good enough to be great friends and have a reasonable sense of fashion and makeup, with an urge to learn even more.

By profession we are Accountants who live in most lively and colorful city of Pakistan, Lahore. We both are in our early twenties. We are by no mean Makeup Guru's or Professionals of any sort. We are just two girls who have a real thing for makeup. A REAL THING. We started by sharing our personal preferences and choices with each other and finally realizing that we need to share our love for beauty with you guys too and take this to whole new level.  As they say, :
The more you share, the more you learn.
Makeup to us is like a fairy dust which out sparks your natural-selves. Because frankly whether you go with tons of makeup or just a little pinch or touch of it, you will always be the happy-go-lucky girl inside and out. How much you are comfortable in your skin and by your choices is what matters the most, no matter what shade of lip gloss you are wearing or which eye shadow pops up your eye color.

In this blog we will be sharing reviews about products we have tested on ourselves and have appreciated or criticized, along with swatches, beauty hauls and D.I.Y's.

Like,Share,Comment and Love.
And always lets us know what"is on your mind, what is IN, what we are missing, what we need to know :)
